- (Medical):Anthony Jefferson Moore/Harper was the son of Dutch Moore and Juanita Lusk Moore. He was born December 22, 1957, at Holmes County Community Hospital in Lexington, Mississippi. Dutch and Juanita divorced when Anthony was approximately three years old. Dutch wanted to be a father to Anthony but Juanita would not share him with Dutch or the Moore family. Dutch gave up after several years of never getting his son for a weekend. On December 11, 1963, when Anthony was six years old, Luther Harper adopted him. Luther was married to Juanita at that time. Dutch knew nothing of the adoption and did not sign the adoption papers. Anthony found out who his birth father was at a party when he was a teenager. He came to Lexington to see his dad and meet his stepmother and two half-brothers, Charles and Ronald.
Anthony's education was at Indianola Academy, Indianola, Mississippi. He was gifted in music and won a music scholarship. He received an associate of arts diploma from Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, Mississippi. He also attended Itawamba Junior College in Fulton, Mississippi. There he received an associate of arts diploma in electronics and became a certified electrician.
On Thursday, March 28, 1996, an obituary of Anthony's death appeared in The Clarion Ledger newspaper. Dutch's brother, Melvin, was told of Anthony's death by one of his friends at the local coffee shop. Melvin called Dutch to inform him that Anthony had been killed in a truck wreck on Colorado 140 one mile south of Redmesa in La Plata County, Colorado. Anthony was in a company truck and had worked extremely long hours prior to his death. He was a longtime former resident of the Greenwood area and in 1990 had moved to Farmington, New Mexico.
After Anthony's death Dutch found out that there was a wife and three small children. They all live in Bloomfield, New Mexico. Dutch and Carolyn stayed in touch with Tammy for a period of time after Anthony's death. Tammy mentioned that when her mother died she might move closer to them. She is a certified electrician also. Before she met Anthony she already had one teenage son, Jacob Martin Shanafelt. Carolyn is not sure if Anthony and Tammy were legally married or if theirs was a common law marriage.
