He enlisted in the CSA 8th Alabama Infantry, Company K, May 25, 1861. He was shot in the chest at Gettysburg and captured July 4, 1863 and paroled July 30 1863. The 8th Alabama Infantry, Company K, was formed at Radfordville, Perry Co., Alabama. The group served under Generals John B. Magruder and James Longstreet.
