3. George Hanover McNutt was born in 1823 in Hickman Co., Tennessee, died on Nov 15, 1851 in Iuka, Tishomingo Co., Mississippi at age 28, and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tishomingo Co., Mississippi. The cause of his death was Pneumonia.

General Notes: Moved to Northern Mississippi in 1837 from Hickman Co., Tennessee. He bought property with his brother.

Marriage records of Itawamba County, MS, indicates George Hanover McNutt married Sarah Ann McCollough on 30 Jan 1851. George, a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister is buried at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery located six miles south of Iuka.

A memorial plate made for the church has the following inscription: "Pleasant Hill Church was built about 1875 as a Methodist Protestant Church. The first pastor was the Rev. Lemuel J. Hubbard. The original building stood for 17 years until it was replaced in 1905 by the present structure. The first marked burial was made there on 15 Nov 1851."

This grave is for George Hanover McNutt. His wife Sarah Ann McNutt, who died 15 Feb 1875, is buried next to him. Next to his grave is that of Nancy McNutt, 13th child of William Thomas McNutt, who was born 30 Aug 1893, and lived only five weeks.

George married Sarah Ann McCollough, daughter of William H. McCollough and Anne Wiley, on Jan 30, 1851 in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. Sarah was born on Nov 7, 1829 in Alabama, died on Feb 15, 1875 in Iuka, Tishomingo Co., Mississippi at age 45, and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tishomingo Co., Mississippi.

General Notes: The 1860 Census of Itawamba Co., MS, on page 355 lists Sarah A. McNutt, aged 29, living with her son William T. McNutt, aged nine, in the home of her parents, William H. McCollough, 60, Anne 53, and her siblings William A. McCollough, 19, May C. 23, Ralph E., 16, Eliza J., 13, and Elijah L., 10.

Real estate for the household was valued at $1,000 and personal property at $1,000. Their address was Fulton, MS. Since Sarah Ann was left a widow before her child was born, it seems only natural she would move in with her parents. It is said she was raised in Tippah Co., MS.

In the 1870 census, at age 48, she was living with her son, William Thomas McNutt, aged 19, in dwelling 153, Tishomingo Co., MS. The date of this enumeration was 14 July 1870.

+ 6 M    i. William Thomas McNutt was born on Jan 10, 1852 in Iuka, Tishomingo Co., Mississippi, died on Oct 31, 1938 in Meridian, Lauderdale Co., Mississippi at age 86, and was buried in South Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery, Tishomingo Co., Mississippi.
